Sean, this is toooo funny to read!! I have actually sat here laughing out loud, at my desk and at work! You are however on the right track with GIRLS and all things GIRLS... the baseball bat now that's a handy tool, or the power drill, or the miter saw you spoke of. She is one blessed little girl I tell you. The openness, honesty and love you speak of, that is the ticket. That is one thing we always had with Lauren is openness and honesty and that she have an opinion and be able to communicate that opinion. You don't necessiarly have to agree with her opinion nor she with yours but allow them to have one and express it whenever they feel the need. Now communication has been key with us and I value the relationship we have with Lauren because of it. That dating thing.... it doesn't get any easier.. not sure how it relates for a Dad but for a Mom it's painful to watch but at the same time joyous as your daughter finds love and heartbreak along the way and hopefully ends up with a guy much like yourself.

Ciara, thanks so much for the well wishes. Dad Blogs is a great place - I love the knowledge that there are so many other dads out there blogging. Got to embrace the community!

I encourage you to please share any insights about having girls! I believe we all could use the advice. I will say that you aren't the first to tell me girls are a little more to deal with (you put it very nicely) than with boys. I believe the general lack of comfort with this grey gender area for myself and other newbie dads to little girls is that "little more!" :)

Thanks again Ciara!
